History:

Born and raised on a farm near Bellevue, Ohio (20 miles from Sandusky).

Graduated from Capital University with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Relations

Past Leadership Roles:

International Trustee of Circle K International

Doug was elected by his peers to serve on the Board of Trustees for this international collegiate service organization. His responsibilities included traveling to seven states and Western Canada to counsel organization leaders and inspire college students to perform service projects in their communities. He also was charged with developing a strategic marketing plan to obtain more members and to partner with universities and national organizations. He assisted with developing annual budgets, and created by-laws and legislation to expand organizational efforts to additional countries.

Lt. Governor for Ohio District of Circle K international
Doug was elected by his peers to serve as the Lt. Governor for the Ohio District. He was mainly responsible for Central Ohio growth, and allocating district funds for service projects and events across Ohio. Doug achieved short term and long term sustainability goals, assisting with reaching the largest number of members in Ohio District’s history. He grew the membership in Central Ohio by more than 400 percent in one year.


Capital University Student Senate Floor Leader
Doug organized a grassroots effort and allocated funds to update the university’s handicapped accessibility (compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act). He developed an integrated Study Abroad program and cultural events for students and the community to see what life is like in the home countries of our foreign students. He helped pass a multi-million dollar building plan for a new housing facility, a new dining room, and a new walkway through campus. Plus, he was instrumental in working with university administration to develop a long term building plan for the campus area. Within the Student Senate, he operated and allocated university funds through an annual budget. Doug served on the Student Senate for four years.
 
Current Leadership Roles:
Vice-President of the Northland Kiwanis Club
Recently elected to Vice-President of the Northland Kiwanis Club, Doug is in responsible for club service projects, committee oversight, and growth. Doug has been in Kiwanis for four years, and has been involved in the Kiwanis family for more than 13 years.


Director of Blue Streak Strategies, LLC, a full-service marketing and strategies firm
As the Director of Blue Streak Strategies, LLC, Doug is responsible for obtaining clients, organizing grassroots efforts for major clients, and creating short term and long term marketing/advertising campaigns for clients. He manages all employees and is responsible for balancing the company’s budget.


President, St. Joseph the Worker Business Network
St. Joseph the Worker Business Network is a non-profit membership organization for central Ohio Catholic business people. The network is comprised of professionals who want to incorporate their faith into the workplace while networking with other Catholics to foster personal and business relationships. As President, Doug is responsible for organization direction, balancing budgets, and increasing membership.

Member of the Board of Directors for Little Margaret's Charity, St. Patrick Church
Little Margaret’s Charity is a non-profit organization that distributes funds to organizations in Columbus area whose purpose it is to help the needy. Doug and his wife, Rebecca, are active Board Members who help with charity drives and allocation of funds.
Advisory Board Member of The New Standard Project Fund

The New Standard Project Fund works with the Columbus Jewish Foundation to allocate funds to local organizations and families in need. The New Standard is Central Ohio's Jewish publication.

Government Experience:
Committee on House Administration, Washington D.C.
While at the Committee on House Administration, Doug was responsible for working with the Federal Elections Commission, the Library of Congress, the Capitol Police, and the National Franking Department to track legislation and help increase awareness of related resolutions and bills. He was also charged with organizing and implementing the Intern Lecture Series, and worked with special guests such as Colin Powell, George Stephanopoulos, Trent Lott, Newt Gingrich, Bob Dole, and John Kerry.

Presidential Advance, Midwest Media Team Member
Doug helped arrange presidential visits and presidential candidate’s visits across the Midwest. He coordinated and developed strategic media posts for members of the national media bus. The advance team members are the people behind the scenes who make everything operate smoothly in order to look good on television.

J.B. Hamlin & Company Governmental Affairs Staff, Columbus
Doug began working at J.B. Hamlin & Company as an Intern in college, and worked his way up to be an integral part of the Governmental Affairs Staff. He worked on creating viable and effective legislation with state legislators and executive branch members. While in this role, Doug gained first-hand knowledge of the law making process and the intricacies budget allocations.
